I just wanted to pen a quick update about why I've been so slow and quiet on this blog. Sure, my interests have turned elsewhere (if you're not subscribed to my YouTube channel, you should be), but even progress over there has been slow. I blame the virus. Which is silly, because I haven't even been sick.
It's no secret that global mail has slowed down as a result of the pandemic. I'm blocked on pretty much all of my hardware projects because of delayed shipments from China. Which is fine, it's just really taking it's sweet time. I'm also dealing with customer support from some cloud vendors because I want to be able to do things that normal people don't do on the cloud.
In terms of software, I really have no excuse. It's my day job so I kinda get burned out on it sometimes. It's still my passion, obviously, but that's always been a much smaller part of what this blog truly is. Although I hope that I can one day find a happy medium between the two.
Sometimes my projects are rendered invalid by free software coming to market that makes the idea less novel (DIY cloud gaming comes to mind). But it also spawns some new interesting ideas (DIY cloud gaming for older games). That idea came from playing Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator WWII Europe Series and realizing that if peer to peer multiplayer was possible, so was server-client multiplayer (maybe, I haven't looked too far into it).
But I haven't forgotten this blog. Unforeseen circumstances and shifting interests make it hard to keep up with it. But I will continue to do my best and try to keep the arbitrarily high bar of content that I like to think this blog has even though it's probably all in my head and with every passing day it becomes increasingly negotiable.
