State of the Blog

About one year ago, I started this blog as a place for interesting computer stuff I did so people could learn as I did about new and often undocumented things and how to break them. Even with the very well documented stuff, I still had to figure some implementation details out. I know I had a blast learning and writing about this stuff, but I'd like to address some of the more meta things about this blog in this post. I try to keep it to one meta post a year, and this is it for this year.

I've noticed that from the beginning, I've been writing increasingly more and more about hardware. I don't know why that is. Perhaps it is because I don't know so much about hardware. There's also a bin of electronics here at my school that I can take and leave parts at will for so that's always a motivating factor. But I think a bigger reason still is that there is a lot of hardware that is undocumented. In keeping with the theme of this blog of doing things that aren't normally done with hardware or software that's designed for something else, it's easier to do that with hardware. So I guess that's why I fall back on that.

I'm sure by now you've also noticed that I don't have any ads on my blog. I'd like to keep it that way. I don't generate enough traffic or interest to need or deserve ads. I have noticed a huge spike in interest when I post something to Reddit, but that's really all the advertising I do. So if you or a loved one might like my blog, keep reading it and share it. I like big numbers on my blogger dashboard.

So that's it. I expect to continue my schedule of two posts per month. So next month I'll be back with two more neat things. See you then!
